I use Firefox as my default browser on my Mac. I like it well enough, but the vast improvements in Safari under Leopard (specifically the improvements made to WebKit) have made me try to make the switch to Safari full-time.
One issue remains however, and for me it’s a real problem: Safari doesn’t work well with WordPress.com’s web interface.
Example: if I compose a post using WordPress’ web interface under Safari, it starts out well enough.

After publishing, though, things start to go to hell.

This, obviously, renders Safari 3 relatively worthless for an all-purpose browser, seeing how using WordPress’ web controls is something I do regularly. (Even though I compose most of my posts with ecto, I often do edits/updates to posts using WordPress itself.)
This is the one bug that I’d really like to see fixed. I’m somewhat surprised that this happens under Safari, because in every other dimension of my web life, Safari doesn’t miss a beat. With WordPress, however, it does, and quite badly at that.
If anyone knows a way around this, I’m all ears.
Until then, I’m all about Firefox.

That has also been driving me nuts. You can get it too work by using the code section and putting in ’s but if you go to edit you have to put them back in…

Flock + Mac is rock solid. You can post from the browser… Dunno why but my firefox crashes on me every now and then

The “visual” editor WordPress offers is a gateway to disappointment and frustration. It should never be used. Instead, disable it entirely and install the Markdown plugin which will automatically typeset plain text.
The best imaginable solution? Of course not. But by far the best available solution.

Jeff: I would, but I’m on WordPress.com, not a standalone install. So, in that regard, my options are limited.

When I used to use WordPress, I’ve always thought of Safari’s inability to use the WYSIWYG editor as a feature, not a bug. I much prefer either using Markdown or even writing raw HTML to screwing around with the mess that the editor sometimes makes.

Firefox 3 is also not perfect with WordPress. I haven’t tried the editor, but I can’t get the stats graph to display at all in FF3

Andy: same thing here. It’s beta. It will improve.
As you probably know, FF2 works with no issue.

Have you tried this: http://ijneb.com/archives/2007/10/13/safari-3-wordpress-2-tinymce-and-paragraphs/
(and see the comments)

Ben: thank you. That’s easy and it works.
The issue at its core still remains, but someday WordPress will get around to making the fix that allows Safari to behave correctly.
I can’t modify my WP install, so I’ll have to rely on the user agent tweak for Safari.
Thanks again.
Wordpress and Safari: Will the Fighting Ever End? « GracefulFlavor // March 1, 2008 at 10:11 pm
[...] I’ve written before about how I’d love to move to Safari full-time, but it simply won’t work properly with WordPress’ web editor. Under Safari, the web editor flat-out borks post formatting, and occasionally decides to omit entire blocks of text that it, ostensibly, thinks suck and shouldn’t be published. [...]

I use Safari for all my browsing, except using GoToMyPC for work and for my WordPress blog. I use FireFox for those.
I use FF for the blog for the reasons you’ve stated, and will not hesitate to use Safari when it works.
I use FF for GTMPC because I like having a separate app for my work desktop.
